This week I’m appreciating that we got to celebrate the birthday of “Poppy Hoot” (Doug’s dad) with “baby sea turtle” cupcakes that Griffin made special for him!

I am appreciating our two-week long sojourn to NY. We started with a few days in the City with just my husband, kids and I. From there, we headed to my in-laws where my husband’s siblings were gathering for a reunion/celebration. My in-laws live on a property with 8 other families (one of which is my sister-in-law) who communally own 250 acres of amazingness!. A quick walk down a grassy path and we were swimming in their huge and warm pond; a longer walk and we had access to outrageous rock-climbing….all on their property. Add to that the collected talents of the family (several wonderful cooks, an accomplished pastry chef, many musicians, etc., etc.) and the delightful company of everyone…it’s been a full and lovely week!! Photo’ed here, my kids with some of their cousins (there are 8 grandchildren in all). So much fun!!

I appreciating these last days of summer, my daughter about to fly from the nest …..and leaving it EMPTY for the first time in 29 years. I am beside myself with elation!
