WAYA: What Are You Appreciating?

by Stacey on April 2, 2010

When you find yourself appreciating something – at any time, or even multiple times, in a week – I hope you will try to capture it in a note, photograph or any form that strikes your fancy, and send it to us.

If you get it to us each Thursday at 5pm it will be included in the next day’s post. (See left side bar for the link to send your submissions.) See this week’s entries below.

If you missed getting in your submission earlier in the week, but would like to chime in now, please leave a comment below! I can’t wait to hear what you are appreciating!

We’ve spent the last week with my dear friend, Ruthie – you read her wonderful essays every week on this blog! – and her sweet family. Here are a few more snap shots from our Californian idyll:

Parks w/ caption

California has the best public parks! I don't know if the kids or the adults have more fun!

*****

Slug

California also has the best slugs! Definitely more fun for the kids!

A Redwood forest: my idea of sacred space.

Me and Ruthie in the Redwoods: bliss.

Sacred spaces abound.

Did I mention California has the best playgrounds?!

Do you need any more evidence that California has the best playgrounds and that adults may enjoy them more than the kids!

A Day at the Beach! (Finn was IN the ocean and soaked from head to toe about 10 seconds after this picture was taken)

Serious silliness with the Yarmes!

I am appreciating…..Stacey, Stacey, Stacey, Stacey!!!  I have been blessed to have Stacey and family IN THE HOUSE (and on the beach and in the redwoods and at the park) for the past 5 days and am full to the brim!  What magic comes about when we live in community with those we love!  I am appreciating and appreciating and appreciating!!

Today I am appreciating the spring rains and the green tips of daffodils and tulips peeking up from the ground and colorful buds starting to show on the trees!  It is the season when the light changes and all of our moods along with it!  I am delighted to see that the perennial herb garden that some friends put in for me last year is starting to show sign of life as well.  I was amazed that when the feet and feet of snow finally melted that the hearty salad burnett was still green!  Now I can see the greens of the garlic chives, parsley, and lavender as well in addition to those daffodil and tulip leaves. We leave for Florida today but when I get back I am looking forward to donning my garden gloves and cleaning up those beds!!

I’m grateful for the beautiful country of California, the green coast and the ocean’s dolphin show. Let us all keep her healthy!

I am appreciating a bit of summer weather we are having in Wisconsin. And with that, the opportunity to get my bike out and go for a nice long bike ride. What fun!!

I am also appreciating a phone call with a friend in Arizona. We haven’t talked in months, and it was a wonderful chance to reconnect.

Stacey – what a fun time it looks like you have been having! Time with dear friends….it really doesn’t get much better than that!!!

Hi Stacey,
It’s great to see all those smiling faces on your pictures in California. The fun spread this page.
I am appreciating a long weekend ahead, my boys’ intelligent questions and having the chance to see Seth Godin speek:

Hi Mimi!

Thanks SO much for your kind note and sharing the link to your blog! It’s so cool that you got to hear Seth Godin in Antwerp!

I am also a fan of Seth Godin’s work and you did a fantastic job of synthesizing his message! I can’t wait to hear how your almost-4-year-old son solves the debt crisis in Greece! Thanks again for your thoughtful and inspiring article and letting us know about it here! Much love, Stacey
