WAYA: What Are You Appreciating?

by Stacey on February 19, 2010

When you find yourself appreciating something – at any time, or even multiple times, in a week – I hope you will try to capture it in a note, photograph or any form that strikes your fancy, and send it to us.

If you get it to us each Thursday by 5pm it will be included in the next day’s post. (See left side bar for the link to send your submissions.) See this week’s entries below.

If you missed getting in your submission earlier in the week, but would like to chime in now, please leave a comment below! I can’t wait to hear what you are appreciating!

This week I’m appreciating my boys SO much. I had a more work-intensive week than usual (which takes me away from home and to a hospital in Hickory, NC) and the absence did indeed seem to make the heart grow fonder. Every night when we go to bed I ask my son what his favorite part of the day was and last night he said, “You, Mommy!”

So appreciating support of my best contractor to lead dog me down the mountain of our client…WAY TOO MUCH SNOW and ICE still on the road. Made it back in one piece, no car damage!

I’m appreciating the scent of jasmine wafting through my house. I put some little nosegays in antique milk glass spice bottles I salvaged from a condemned house.  I place them on my shelves where I have family photos – my grandmother, my mother, my husband’s grandmother, my great grandmother. Sort of an offering to my “ancestors”! (My mom is still with us, blessedly, she just happens to be sitting on the shelf in a picture frame with the other  ladies.)

Oh yes, my long awaited gift… that I’m working to pay for.  Maybe that doesn’t make her a “gift.”  I love her anyway!  And am SO thankful.  She will be my right arm for some time now.  Meet her…

I’m appreciating my studio space and the feeling of being at home… and the cuddliness of my two dear cats.

As the rain returns to Santa Cruz, I am appreciating our warm fire and the gently-opening lilies on our dining room table. The first, a comfort from the cold and the second, a reminder that spring really is around the corner!

Hi Leslie! Thanks so much for sharing your appreciation here! I know you have been working hard to get your studio “just so” and I’m SO glad that you are so pleased with it. I can’t wait to see the art that comes out of it!!! In future weeks I’d love for you to share some pictures of your art *and* your cuddly cats!!! Much love to you!

Hi Ruthie! Oh, I hope there is still enough of a chill in the Santa Cruz air to encourage a fire when we come visit at the end of March – it sounds so yummy! And the sun has finally returned to Asheville and I’m planning to take a walk now to appreciate it!!! Much love to you!
