When you find yourself appreciating something – at any time, or even multiple times, in a week – I hope you will try to capture it in a note, photograph or any form that strikes your fancy, and send it to us. If you get it to us each Thursday at 5pm it will be included in the next day’s post. (See left side bar for the link to send your submissions.)
See this week’s entries below. If you missed getting in your submission earlier in the week, but would like to chime in now, please leave a comment below! I can’t wait to hear what you are appreciating!

This week (again!) I’m appreciating the sweet connection with my son. We’ve been reading a different Christmas book each night – many of which were my childhood favorites. My son especially loves “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” and I loved when he said, “Mommy, when his heart got 3 sizes bigger, he got really strong!” I love that he associates kindness with power!

I am appreciating the electricity that keeps my furnace going and keeps me warm and cozy; that cooks my food and makes me a lovely, hot cup of tea; that makes it possible for me to have a hot shower every day; that lights up the house so I can do things after dark; that makes it possible for me to listen to the radio and CDs; that helps to entertain me with wonderful movies; that flushes my toilet! And I am appreciating the linemen who spent long, cold hours laboring to restore power to the many people who were missing the comfort of any or all of these luxuries. When I started feeling sorry for myself, I thought of them out there and was thankful that at least I was able to hunker down in bed under layers of comforters.

Merry Christmas, all! Thanks so much, Darlene, for sharing what you are appreciating! I *really* appreciate the reminder to appreciate the gifts we receive everyday – electricity, running water, and the people whose work make them possible!
