Guest Post on Christine Kane’s Blog!

iStock_000003471925XSmallI’ve long appreciated Christine Kane and benefited from the insights I’ve gleaned from her blog. One of my favorite of her suggestions is that people skip New Year’s resolutions and instead pick a word that will guide them throughout the year.

I’ve accepted her challenge to choose a word to inspire me through the year for the last several years. For 2008 it was courage, and this year it was rejoice.

And so, for all of you coming from Christine’s blog: Welcome! I am honored that you are here.

In celebration of my appearance on Christine’s blog, I thought it would be fun to host a book giveaway. (If you know me, you know I love giving away great books!)

The lucky winner will receive Kathy Freston’s Quantum Wellness: A Practical and Spiritual Guide to Health and Wellness. I want to encourage you to start the New Year with all you need to give birth to a life you love, and this book is a great tool for doing just that.

If you’d like to be entered in this giveaway, let me know in the comments section of this post. (I’d also love to hear if you chose or will be choosing a word for 2010!)

I’ll do a random drawing in a couple of days and then announce the winner. Thanks again for coming to my blog and I hope you will come back often!

I loved the Christine Kane post! My words for 08 and 09 respectively were “receive” and “soar”. Over the past two years, I have done both. When I thought about this year, I realize that I want to continue to receive and soar and that for me to do so, I need to find “stillness”. The stillness found when my mind can let go of its chatter and be. The place where I am my highest self. I am sure there will be a blog post about it in the upcoming weeks!

What a wonderful idea! I’m choosing FOCUS this year, and I know it’s right because of how much I want to pick another. I’d love to be entered into your give-away and hope to be doing something similar this time next year (appearing on her blog with my own tale). Well done on such a wonderfully inspiring post.

I found your blog through your posting on Christine’s site. :) My word for 2009 has been Commitment, and that word and concept have turned up time again in my life this year in amazing and challenging ways. I haven’t yet decided what my word for 2010 will be… Hmm.

How generous of you! Would love to be part of the “giveaway.” My word for this coming year is “flourish”; last year’s was “clarity” which led to joy, upleveling, and an inner sense of freedom & soaring.

Hi Stacey,
The word “rejoice”…I thought, wow, that is a great way to view life! And then, when I come here to your site, Stacey, the bright colors, the upbeat post – rejoice is a word you really seem to be truly living! And how awesome! It’s great to be here, and I wish you much in your life that rings of the word “rejoice”!

Hi everyone!

Thanks SO much for coming here from Christine’s blog! I really am honored to have you here! And I do hope you come back! If you came here it was probably because you resonated with the idea of appreciating what you *do* have and this blog has a weekly feature “WAYA: What Are You Appreciating?” Just check out the small box at the upper left corner of the blog to contribute!

Ruthie – I can’t wait to read your blog post on “stillness.” You mixture of wisdom and humor always delights and inspires me!

Rose – Thank you SO much for your kind words. I love how you know that FOCUS is the right word because you wanted to choose another one. Yes, the perfect word can be like that “bad penny” – you can’t seem to get rid of it! You are welcome to write for this blog any time about your experience with your word (or anything else that moves you!) – just check out the “Write for Us” tab at the top of the blog.

Addie – If you, too, would like to write for this blog, I’d love to hear more about what “commitment” meant to you and what word you will be choosing for 2010!

Sherilyn – Wow! You really got it all with your word last year and I know you *will* flourish in 2010!

Lance – Thanks so much for coming to this blog to comment, too! I responded to your comment at Christine’s blog and, again, I’m so touched by your support and enthusiasm for everyone and their word!

And everyone, all of your names will go into a hat and I will post the winner of “Quantum Wellness” with the Friday WAYA feature! Again, I hope you will all come back and contribute again!

Hi Stacey,

I remember connecting with you last year, and I was not very open. You were terrific then, as you are here. In fact, you’ve grown tremendously. As sad as I am (for myself) that I let that year go by, seeing what you’ve accomplished has inspired me to think of you when the going gets tough. That’s one of the things I liked so much about your post on Christine’s blog — you were very real. Everything wasn’t rosy, as can happen. However, you showed that that’s life — and when things aren’t rosy, you need to dig that much deeper. You put a tremendous message out there for the world to see and learn. You’re a terrific writer. (I liked your post about voice — it really hit home.)

If you haven’t closed the hat (of names), please add mine. As nice as the gift would be, you’re the true gift. Many thanks! Pati

Hi Diane! Thanks so much for coming from Christine’s blog to here! I hope you and Rose will come back and share what you learn from “focus.” I always think it’s SO interesting to see how the same word can elicit such different meanings from people. (Last year for Christine’s blog I wrote about courage, as did several other guest bloggers.)

Hi Pati! Thanks so much for coming here, too! I left you a message at Christine’s blog and I’m SO glad that you were so much more forthcoming here. I hope you will come back to this blog often and share more! And, of course, I’ll add your name to the hat – I’ll conduct the drawing on Thursday night and post the winner to the WAYA feature on Friday! And, again, your compliment is lovely and I appreciate it and YOU so much!

What a lovely giveaway! My word for 2009 was Action and has resulted in my having gone back to school to get the real estate license that I’ve been talking about for 20 years. Yesterday I met with my broker and will be starting my new career on January 1st! My 2010 word is Wealth…and I’m not just talking money. I’m looking for wealth in all facets of my life. After seeing my journey with my word this past year, my husband has taken on the word Opportunity for 2010.

Hi Carolyn! Thanks so much for coming here! I love that the word “action” inspired you to do something that you’ve wanted to do for 20 years! That is so awesome!

I also love the word “wealth” – and I completely know what you mean about it not just being about money! Please come back and let us know the *many* ways it manifests for you!

Hey Stacey~

Congrats on your guest blog…I am so happy for you. I’ve been doing my “word of the year” for years now….and “Grace” has held that spot for the last three- and I intend on keeping it another year. It’s a big word that deserves the time to fully realize…I keep learning about it so it must be ok to keep around!

Hi Iris! Thanks so much for coming from Christine’s blog – it’s wonderful to have you here! And, yes, the giveaway is still open until 5 pm today (Thursday, 12/17) and I’m happy to put your name in the hat! The winner will be announced in the WAYA feature tomorrow (Friday, 12/18)! And I love the word commit. It really underlines the choice we have to live exactly the life we want if only we’d just commit. :-)

Hi Stacey, I am so happy that I found you through Christine’s site. I love your blog and its positive and uplifting message. I’ve gone back to it over and over in the past few days. My word for 2009 has been CHOICE and though I don’t think I always used that option it surely has made my year a better one just for stopping to think about my options. The word I’ve chosen for 2010 is HAPPY. There are several other words I could have chosen but I really need to focus on re-learning to make myself happy. Your site is a really great start! Thank you.

Hi Liz! You are SO welcome! I’m thrilled that you found this blog and appreciate its purpose! The fact that you chose “choice” last year says so much about where you *want* to put your energy – simply acknowledging that you have a choice in any situation is huge (even if you don’t exercise it every time) – and I know it will serve you so well in 2010! I hope you will come back here often! (I also post daily notes to encourage happiness on Facebook, if you’d like to join me there, too!)
